The Shrine's vermillion gates standing in the middle of the downtown area
are an impressive sight. The shrine houses the God which protects the city,
and has been immortalized in the poems of Sei Shonagon and Ueda Akinari
It also appears in the ancient text 'Nihon Shoki'(720) which is an indicator
of its age. To the rear of the shrine is Ikuta Wood, rich in greenery and
a favorite relaxation spot among locals. Open to visitors.
